Turner & Burton

Wilfred Henry (Henry) Turner (1864-1923) stated that he was born in Chester, Cheshire, England circa 1864. When he arrived in Tasmania is not known, but it was before before 1889.  His marriage to Zillah Burton (1867-1937) is believed to have taken place around 1889 in Launceston, to date no marriage certificate has been found in Australia.

Henry Turner is reputed to have been sent out to the colonies as a remittance man because of his bad behaviour back in England, one family member stated that he was the son of a Lord Merle and that he changed his name.  Needless to say none of this can be proven.

Children of Henry and Zillah:

1. Phoebe Agnes (1890-1917)  never married

3. Marjorie Zillah (Ticky) (1893-1964) married Errol Stott, lived in Victoria
